Types of Stories: John enjoys telling fantasy stories from Ireland and Scotland, his ancestral homeland.  He is also an enthusiastic practitioner of the art of unscripted, first-person storytelling involving the lives of everyday people, including his friends and family.

John promotes storytelling for all ages and shares stories that enhance literacy, Resiliency, and Community Connection in everyday life. His stories strive to include four key ingredients, which are that they be Memorable-Enjoyable- Repeatable-and Inspirational. His favorite stories to tell are those that resonate with humor, meaning, and significance.

John has traveled extensively throughout the world and especially enjoys music and tales from Ireland and Scotland. John lives in St. George, Utah. He is an instructor at Utah Tech University at the Institute for Continued Learning (ICL) since 2017, where he teaches Family History.

John has performed for groups live on stage at Coyote Tales, Redstone Scottish Highlands Games and Festival, libraries and elementary schools. He has also given presentations on public communications and has consulted with faculty members at Utah Tech University, interested in telling stories in scholastic environments.

He is also a member of a local storytelling group from the SunRiver retirement community known as “Storytelling and Then Some,” which meets throughout the year on campus.

John is a STEM/STEAM career presenter and enjoys “telling the Story of Science” and using storytelling to engage his students.
