Would you rather send in a check? Or make a payment which does not automatically renew? If so, click the link below:

Please note that the cost of a membership is slightly higher when payment is made using a check or using a non-recurring form of payment. The reason for this difference is to account for the required manual transaction processing and clerical follow-up to USG.

Still, Deciding?

Setting—

Most of us gather at libraries for monthly chapter meetings spanning the state. Our website can direct you to the closest one. When together, we circle our chairs and listen with delight to anyone exploring a story, presenting a workshop, or asking advice on the art. Storytellers love to party so sometimes we can be found around a blazing campfire or in a comfortable living room.

Call to Adventure—

At any moment you could be a storyteller, a listener, or both. People share stories when they feel ready, and the relaxing atmosphere has often been dubbed as “the right place” for first-time stories or signature pieces. Each Guild Chapter has its own personality ranging from casual to structured traditions. No matter which one you attend, you will feel like a family.

Gifts for the Journey—

Chapter meetings are free, though there are some perks for due-paying members:

  • Free website listing – a personal profile page to promote yourself
  • Virtual Guild meeting, a time to meet tellers in other areas.
  • Use of USG’s Zoom account to conduct chapter and training events
  • Access to the Member’s area resources on the USG Website
  • Story Crossroads Membership which includes their newsletter and many other resources
  • Taleswapper— the guild’s quarterly newsletter
  • Opportunity to seek grants with USGs 501 c3 charitable status.
  • Networking with other storytellers for performance opportunities
  • StorySwap— our annual retreat/outreach
  • Meet n’ Mingles—various events
  • And Much More!

Possible Adventure—

People of all ages enjoy a good story. Audiences for polished stories could range from adults, college students, families, kids, or a mix of all kinds. Many venue requests are for the younger set, so the Guild hosts House Concerts intended for older audiences. You could host, emcee, or perform for this Professional Development Series.
